ILUG Cochin will be conducting a meet this sunday(22^nd Apr, 2012). The meeting is from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The agenda for the meeting is and the technical pesentation will be Securing Openssh.

Introduction to Free Software

We start of with our regular discussion on the concepts and philosophy of
the Free Software Movement and related topics.

Agenda : Securing Openssh

The importance Remote Administration in all aspects of internet based
transactions, security relating to vital areas will be discussed. We will
also discuss how this will be useful for day to day use.

Technical Discussions

Attendees will discuss and/or present topics of interest. They will share
their knowledge by handling small sessions to make up the Technical
Session part of the Meeting.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants who are the main actors of the event

Gamers’ Meetup Kochi is being held at Area 51, Kathrikadavu Jn on 14 Apr 2012, 04:00 PM.

Gamer Meet-Up (tweetup) is the place to have a way to interact with each other.
Any one who plays or loves games that could be a causal gamer playing simple game like snakes,solitaire, angry bird to a hardcore Counter-strike, DOTA, COD gamer.

Gamers’ Meetup Kochi would also witness Gaming Competition at the venue. You could also get your handheld device. Even Showcase games

This is an initative to make it possible for gamers to have a way to interact with each other. There are plenty of features for all of them. It kick-started from Mumbai-Pune-Pondicherry-Kochi and other cities with over 300 attendees gracing the event.

The idea here is also to bridge the gap between developer/producer to end gamer.

Never be bored playing by yourself in video games, now you have a whole new network.

We are planning the next Cochin Meetup. It will be at Area 51 on 11^th March, 2012(Sunday). Join us if you are interested.

Area 51 is on the right side of the Kallor-Kadavanthara bridge when going from Kallor to Kadavanthara.

For the uninitiated, a tweetup is An organized or impromptu gathering of people that use Twitter. A meet up of people that ‘tweet’ using Twitter. (source)

Script Film Festival on 20th Jan, 8 AM

Script Film Festival is being held at Fine Arts Hall on 20 Jan 2012, 08:30 AM. This is a full day event.

SCRIPT, is organized by the Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis. It seeks to recognize outstanding short films that deal with globally relevant social issues, thereby drawing world attention to these issues. SCRIPT is an annual competition open to film makers from across the globe. SCRIPT will be held at Fine Arts Hall Kochi on the 20-21 Jan 2012 as a two day long event. SCRIPT will recognize and reward short films from across the world. These short films will deal with issues that are of global relevance. SCRIPT is an annual event organized by the Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis and is in to its second edition.

Cochin Carnival is being held at Fort Cochin on 17 Dec 2011, 09:00 AM. This goes on till 01 Jan 2012, 08:00 PM.

Cochin Carnival is celebrated at Fort Kochi every year during the last ten days of December. Various unique games, dirt bike races, beach volleyball and fireworks display are held as part of the festivities. The carnival is celebrated as a continuity of the Portuguese New Year revelry held here during the colonial days.
